Extend that summer feeling

For many beach volleyball players, summer ends when the competition season does.

For us, summer ends when we’re ready to let it go. Welcome to Lagos.

Here, the days find their own rhythm. Start your morning with a beach volleyball training, enjoy a long lunch together at Linda’s Beach Bar, then meet again later in the week for a Scramble Tournament, Queen & King of the Court or the Lagos Open. In between, there’s plenty of time to explore the Algarve. Walk along dramatic cliffs, discover hidden beaches, take a surf lesson, or simply enjoy another afternoon in the sun.

Training sessions, tournaments, shared moments and free afternoons flow naturally into one another. Beach volleyball sets the rhythm of the week, while the Algarve provides the backdrop.

The calendar decides when summer ends.

why Lagos?

Lagos has been a home away from home for Barefoot for years, and for good reason.

Many beach destinations offer either a lively seaside town or a quiet stretch of beach.

Lagos gives you both.

Our camp takes place on Meia Praia, a wide sandy beach where space, tranquillity and beach volleyball take centre stage. No busy promenade. No high-rise hotels. Just a relaxed beach atmosphere, with Linda’s Beach Bar as our home base for shared lunches, tournaments and everything in between.

And when the training is over? That’s when Lagos comes alive. Wander through charming streets, discover great restaurants, settle onto a sunny terrace or simply soak up the atmosphere. It’s big enough to keep surprising you, yet small enough to feel at home from day one.

That’s what makes Lagos so special to us. The peace of the beach when you want to play. The energy of the town when you’re not ready for the day to end.

The best of both worlds, brought together by sun, sea and beach volleyball.

Train. play. explore. repeat.

Start your morning with a beach volleyball training on the sand, come together over shared lunches and tournaments, and leave plenty of time to discover Lagos and the stunning Algarve. Wander through the charming old town, hike along dramatic cliffs, discover hidden beaches, take a surf lesson, or simply enjoy another afternoon in the sun.

It’s the perfect balance of beach volleyball and the beach life. A week where training, competition, adventure and unforgettable moments come together effortlessly.

Celebrate the beach life. 🌴

Monday – The First Full Day

Today, the camp truly gets underway. You’ll meet your coach and training group for the first time as you hit the sand for your first training session of the week. Together, you’ll lay the foundation for the days ahead, focusing on technique, game awareness and, above all, enjoying the game.

After training, it’s time for one of our favourite daily traditions: lunch together at Linda’s Beach Bar. With the beach just steps away, it’s the perfect place to recharge, swap stories from the morning and get to know your fellow beachers.

In the afternoon, the first tournament of the week is on the schedule: the Scramble Tournament. In this fun and social format, you’ll play with and against different participants every round. It’s a great way to meet new people, try out new partnerships and get plenty of matches under your belt.

As the sun begins to set, the evening is yours to enjoy. Head into the lively streets of Lagos for dinner, find a cosy terrace with your new friends or simply unwind by the sea after an unforgettable first day.

Tuesday – Train and Explore

After an active first full day, the morning begins back where it belongs: on the sand. Together with your coach and training group, you’ll continue building your technique, tactical understanding and confidence, with plenty of time to play and enjoy the game.

The rest of the day is yours to explore.

Relax on one of Lagos’ beautiful beaches, such as Praia Dona Ana or Praia do Camilo, hike along the spectacular cliffs of Ponta da Piedade, or enjoy a long lunch in the charming old town. Looking for a little more adventure? Head to the west coast for a surf session in Sagres or Arrifana, or join a boat tour to discover the Algarve’s famous sea caves from the water.

Whether you spend the afternoon chasing adventure, soaking up the sun or simply slowing down, today is yours to enjoy at your own pace.

Wednesday – Finding Your Flow

By now, you’ve settled into the rhythm of camp. During the morning training, you’ll continue building on everything you’ve learned so far, with plenty of opportunities to put new techniques and tactics into practice through game-like situations.

After training, it’s time to gather once again at Linda’s Beach Bar for a shared lunch. Recharge, swap stories from the morning and enjoy the views over Meia Praia before another action-packed afternoon on the sand.

Next up is one of the highlights of the week: Queen & King of the Court. This fast-paced tournament format keeps you constantly moving, playing with and against different participants as every point counts. It’s competitive, social and guaranteed to bring plenty of excitement.

As the sun goes down, we trade volleyballs for board games. Join us for a relaxed games night filled with laughter, friendly competition and another chance to spend time with your fellow beachers away from the court.

Thursday – Discover More of the Algarve

After your morning training, the rest of the day is yours to explore. And trust us, there’s still so much more to discover.

Set out on a boat tour along the Algarve’s breathtaking coastline, explore the famous Benagil Sea Cave, or head west towards Sagres, where dramatic cliffs and the Atlantic Ocean reveal a completely different side of Portugal. If you’re up for a little adventure, this is also the perfect place to catch some waves with a surf lesson.

As the day draws to a close, make your way to Cabo de São Vicente, one of the most spectacular spots in Portugal to watch the sunset. Standing on the cliffs as the sun disappears into the Atlantic is an experience you won’t soon forget.

Prefer to stay a little closer to Lagos? Spend the afternoon wandering through the charming old town, enjoy a long lunch on a sunny terrace or simply relax on the beach with nowhere else to be.

Today is yours to create. Spend it exactly the way you want.

Friday – The Grand Finale

The final full day of camp has arrived, but we’re not slowing down just yet. The morning begins with one last training session, where you’ll bring together everything you’ve learned throughout the week. One final chance to step onto the sand, challenge yourself and finish the week on a high.

After a shared lunch at Linda’s Beach Bar, it’s time for the highlight of the week: the Lagos Open.

This unique tournament brings together Barefoot Beachers and local players, creating new matchups, fresh challenges and an incredible atmosphere on the beach. It’s the perfect way to put everything you’ve learned into practice while enjoying one last afternoon of competition.

Later in the day, everyone gathers around the centre court for an exciting exhibition match. Sit back, enjoy the action and watch beach volleyball played at the highest level as we celebrate everything that makes the sport so special.

In the evening, we come together one last time for our Closing Dinner. A chance to relive the best moments of the week, celebrate new friendships and look back on an unforgettable experience shared on and off the court.

And for those who aren’t quite ready to say goodbye, the night often continues in the lively streets of Lagos, where one last drink turns into the perfect ending to an unforgettable week.

Saturday – One Last Rally

The week may be coming to an end, but there’s still time for one last morning on the sand. Join us for a few final rallies, enjoy the beach one more time and take the opportunity to say goodbye to the people who have shared this unforgettable week with you.

It’s also the perfect moment to exchange contact details, make plans for your next tournament, or maybe even your next Barefoot camp together. After all, many of the friendships that start here continue long after everyone has returned home.

As everyone begins their journey home, you’ll leave with more than just improved beach volleyball skills. You’ll take home unforgettable memories, new friendships and a little piece of the beach life that stays with you long after the sand has left your shoes.

Choose your perfect base

Lagos is compact, easy to explore and surprisingly walkable. That means choosing where to stay is less about distance and more about the kind of experience you’re looking for during your week at Barefoot.

Stay in the Old Town

If you enjoy lively streets, cosy cafés, great restaurants and vibrant terraces, the historic centre is the perfect place to stay. It’s the ideal place to soak up the atmosphere after a day on the sand.

From the old town, it’s around a 20 to 30-minute walk to Meia Praia. Looking to shorten the journey? Hop on the small ferry across the Bensafrim River and enjoy a scenic shortcut to the beach.

Stay Between the Beach and the Town Centre

Looking for the best of both worlds? Choose accommodation near the marina or the train station. This area offers a wide range of hotels and apartments, with both Meia Praia and the old town within easy walking distance.

For many Barefoot Beachers, it’s the perfect base: close to the daily trainings on Meia Praia, while still just minutes away from the cafés, restaurants and lively atmosphere of Lagos.

Wherever you choose to stay, you’ll never be far from the beach, the Barefoot community or the relaxed Algarve lifestyle that makes this week so special.

FAQ

How do I get to Lagos?

The easiest way to reach Barefoot Beach Camp Lagos is by booking a direct flight to Faro Airport. From Faro, you can easily continue your journey to Lagos by airport transfer, rental car or train. With a travel time of just over an hour, this is the quickest and most convenient option for most participants.

Another option is to fly into Lisbon. From there, several FlixBus coaches depart for Lagos every day. The journey takes around three hours and arrives at the central bus station, from where most accommodations are within walking distance or a short taxi ride. This option is often more affordable, although the overall journey takes a little longer.

Prefer to drive? That’s possible too. If you’re considering travelling by car, let us know. We’ll gladly see if we can connect you with other participants travelling from the same area so you can share the journey.

Still not sure which option is best? Get in touch via WhatsApp or email—we’re always happy to help you plan your trip.

With your Barefoot Beach Camps Camp Pass, almost everything is taken care of—so you can focus on what really matters: improving your game, relaxing in the Algarve and celebrating the beach life with an amazing group of people.

Your Camp Pass includes:

  • Five professional morning training sessions (Monday to Friday)
  • Three beach volleyball tournaments, including the Scramble, Queen & King of the Court and the Lagos Open
  • Unlimited free play on the beach volleyball courts throughout the week
  • Lunch on tournament days (unless you choose the Camp Pass without lunch)
  • A welcome drink at our kick-off event
  • Access to all social activities and the Barefoot community

The only things you’ll need to arrange yourself are your flights, accommodation and meals outside the included lunches. This gives you the flexibility to plan your trip exactly the way you want—whether you’re travelling on a budget or treating yourself to a little extra luxury.

Still have questions about what’s included? Feel free to get in touch via WhatsApp or email. We’re always happy to help.

If you’re unsure which level suits you best, don’t worry—you’re definitely not the only one.

A good starting point is to look at things like:

  • The training groups you currently play or have played in
  • How many years you’ve been playing beach volleyball
  • The competitions or tournaments you regularly participate in
  • Your overall experience and confidence on the court

Still not sure? Just send us a message via WhatsApp or email. We’ll happily help you find the level that fits you best before the camp starts.

And even once you’re in Lagos, we’ll continue to keep an eye on things. Our head coach monitors all training groups throughout the week to make sure everyone is in the right place. If needed, we’ll adjust the groups so that every player trains at the right level and gets the most out of the camp.

Our goal is simple: to make sure everyone trains in an environment where they feel challenged, comfortable and able to improve.

Absolutely!

Every year, many Beachers join a Barefoot Beach Camp on their own—and many leave with new friends from all over Europe.

Building and strengthening the beach volleyball community is one of our core values. That’s why we actively encourage solo Beachers to join us. From the moment you arrive, we’ll help you connect with other campers and make you feel part of the group.

Throughout the week, you’ll naturally get to know people during your training sessions, tournaments, shared lunches and social activities. Before you know it, you’ll be making plans for dinner, exploring Lagos together or arranging your next tournament back home.

So if you’re thinking about joining solo, don’t hesitate. You certainly won’t be the only one.

Besides your usual holiday essentials, we recommend packing everything you need for an active week on the sand.

We recommend bringing:

  • Plenty of sportswear (you’ll be training and playing every day)
  • At least one good pair of sports sunglasses suitable for beach volleyball (bringing a spare pair is always a good idea)
  • Plenty of sunscreen, as you’ll be spending lots of time in the sun and will need to reapply regularly
  • A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day
  • Comfortable flip-flops or sandals for getting around the beach
  • A light jumper or jacket for the evenings, as temperatures can cool down after sunset in October

The rest is simple: bring your enthusiasm, a smile and get ready for an unforgettable week on the beach.

Still have questions?
