As you might know Barefoot Beach Camps founder Shaun has recently organized a train-the-trainer course for the Lisbon Sun Setters.
In extension of that collaboration we are now proud to announce that Barefoot Beach Camps are offering exclusive benefits to the members of the Lisbon Sun Setters!
This partnership is designed to enhance the beach volleyball community, providing great discounts for participants while also supporting the Lisbon Sun Setters club with each booking.
The next camp is lined up this spring from 26th of April to 3rd of May on Praia da Rocha! As a Lisbon Sun Setters member, you will receive a €35 discount on your Camp Pass, or even €50 if you also book accommodation through Barefoot. In addition, Lisbon Sun Setters will earn €20 for every booking made by its members.

Are you ready for a perfect start of your summer?
You need something to look forward to, right? The feeling of sand between your toes and the sun on your skin? The thrill of digging up that impossible ball and scoring it yourself? We’re really looking forward to that. How about you?
Just imagine… Wide sandy beaches, perfect temperatures, and a whole lot of beach volleyball. A full week practicing and playing our amazing sport in a stunning location, with a group of passionate beachvolleyball players who are there for just that?! That’s what you can expect when you join us!
From 26th of April to the 3rd of May we’re heading to Praia da Rocha organizing our beach camp nicknamed the Dutch week (more on that later!).
Praia da Rocha is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve. This beach has been the destination for various beach trips for years, and for a good reason. The beach vibe is 100% present. With the sunsets, the stunning rock formations, and the ocean in the background, it’s the perfect location for a week of beach volleyball!

Dutch week?
Why do we call it the Dutch Week you might ask? Normally we do our bigger camps in collaboration with other organizers but this year unfortunately the stars did not align to do so. That is why we decided to call it the Dutch week as Barefoot Beach camps will be flying solo as a Dutch organizer on this camp. We have thought of some fun Dutch elements to sprinkle in during the camp but the participants will be from a lot of different countries. So expect to wear some orange clothing and play Queen/King of the Court (important beachvolleyball trivia; QKOTC is a Dutch product!) and have a blast of a time at Praia da Rocha!

Read everything about our beach camp
Eat.
During this week, you’ll be fully immersed in beach life and everything that comes with it. For 7 days, it’s like living on your very own beach planet. You’ll be outdoors all day long, enjoying meals on the terrace by the beach or at one of the many nearby restaurants. There’s something for everyone—burgers, fresh fish, pizza, tapas, vegetarian and vegan options. Everything you could possibly want is just around the corner.
If you book your stay at Hotel da Rocha, we recommend opting for breakfast-only inclusion. The local restaurants are simply too good to miss out on!
Beach.
The main focus of our camps is beach volleyball: training and playing. During the sessions, the coaches will work with you to strengthen your technique, improve your game, and give you a boost as a player heading into the summer season.
In the afternoons, you can put your training into practice in the tournaments. We have a lot of different training groups, ranging from beginners to national-level players. So, you’ll always be able to train and play at your own level.
Sleep.
Do you love a little luxury? Then, of course, you’ll book Hotel da Rocha. It’s a four-star hotel with comfy beds— the perfect place to relax after a day full of beach volleyball.
If you prefer more space for yourself and enjoy being in the kitchen, or if you’re looking for a more affordable option, Algarve Mor Apartments is the place to stay. The apartments are clean and spacious, and you’ll have your own kitchenette, which is a big plus. The apartments are also the closest option to the courts only a 5 minute walk away from hitting the courts!
Repeat.
This beach trip is extra special because you’ll meet so many more beach volleyball players. Players from all over the world join in on our camps. Many players who have been here once return every year. They’re all people who love the game and beach life just as much as you do. This creates a lively atmosphere and plenty of extra games to play. Because how fun is it to play against new faces and long known friends?! One thing’s for sure: you’ll head home with a whole bunch of new beach volleyball friends!
The Daily Schedule
Arrival day! After your journey from Lisbon or Faro to Praia da Rocha, you’ll check into your accommodation and take a relaxing walk towards the beach.
There, you’ll meet the other campers and coaches and receive a warm welcome, including your goody bag!
After some free play on the courts and picking up your goody bag, you’ll head back to your accommodation to get ready for the welcome dinner. During this dinner, you’ll meet even more of the other beach volleyball players.
After dinner, you can head to bed to prepare for the first day of training, or you can join the other campers at one of the local bars to kick off the week in style!
Today officially marks the start of your beach camp!
There’s a full and exciting day ahead.
In the morning, you can join a yoga session to prepare your body for your first training. During this session, you’ll meet the group and get a feel for the level of the week.
After the lunch break, the first tournament of the week is scheduled: the Scramble!
In this social tournament format, you’ll play each round with a different partner, helping you meet as many participants as possible. The tournament organizers will announce your partner for each round.
After playing and watching (or playing in) the finals on the center court, you can relax with a drink and watch a demonstration from the coaches. This will give you a sneak peek of the techniques you’ll be learning throughout the week.
Now that you’ve clocked a few hours in the sand, it’s time for the second day of the camp.
Today, there are two training sessions on the schedule, making it a great day to learn plenty of new skills! Each day features a different theme for the training, and for each session, you’ll have a different coach to ensure you get as much varied feedback as possible.
After an intense day of training, it’s time for a short but very popular tournament format: ACE!
In this tournament, you’ll play 6 vs. 6, and there’s a fun twist: you must (optionally) take a drink if the ball lands in your team’s court without being touched by your team first.
After the ACE tournament, it’s time to head back and prepare for the evening. Choose a nice restaurant with some fellow beachers, then get ready for the themed party! You’ll be given the theme in advance, so you can pack accordingly.
Today is a slightly more relaxed day with just one training session scheduled for the morning.
As always, this session will be led by a new coach with a fresh focus point.
In the afternoon, it’s time for our Queen and King of the Court tournament. You can sign up with your own partner, or you can add your name to the singles list, where the organizers will pair you up with someone for the tournament.
With the beautiful sunny vibes, we’ll be hosting a few fun activities around the center court, like the Skyball Contest. Take part for a chance to win awesome prizes!
The evening is free for you to make your own plans. You could go explore one of the local restaurants to end the day on a high note.
On Wednesday, we kick off the day with another yoga session.
And trust me, you’ll need it! After a few intense days, your muscles might be feeling pretty tired. But believe us… you can definitely keep going!
After the yoga session, there’s a training scheduled first. In the afternoon, it’s time for your second training of the day. After that, it’s time to cool down. We’ll dive into the pool for the Pool Party at No Solo Aqua!
Thursday is the last day of training. There’s still time to fine-tune those final details and get yourself fully prepared for tomorrow’s tournament.
In the afternoon, it’s the Beach Battle, a tournament where you sign up with 2 men and 2 women. You’ll first play 2 vs. 2, and then finish the match with 4 vs. 4. Super fun!
After the tournament, it’s time to gather around center court for the Coaches’ Beach Battle.
Friday, the last day of camp…
This is the big tournament day! You’ll battle it out on the courts with all the other beachers who have worked hard in training throughout the week.
The tournament lasts all day and we will, of course, end with the finals on Center Court.
At the end of the day, it’s time for the closing party! During Dutch Week, that’s the Royal Party, where you can fully embrace your royal persona.
The best part about this party: it’s held on the Rooftop of Oceans. You’ll have an amazing view of the ocean as you and your fellow beachers wrap up the week in style!
The saddest day: the travel day back home.
It’s time to say goodbye, and we head to the airport on our way home.
Hopefully, it’s not a farewell, but a see you later!
For those lucky enough to stay a bit longer or with a late flight, there’s the option to enjoy some free play before departure.

Do you want to be perfectly taken care of during your beach trip? Book Hotel da Rocha through us and enjoy a fantastic stay in a four-star hotel.
The hotel is perfectly located, right between the beach courts and the center, with all the restaurants and bars nearby. A great spot for your stay!
The hotel has a luxurious feel and comes with breakfast included as standard. For an additional fee, half-board is also available.
We offer Hotel da Rocha with 3 types of rooms: city view, side sea view, and sea view. Rooms are available for 2, 3, or 4 people.

Do you enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle of the beach for a bit? Or do you prefer to cook a few meals yourself? Then choose to book one of the Algarve Mor apartments.
The apartments are just a stone’s throw from the courts and are fully equipped, providing a great place to relax after busy days. Each apartment has its own kitchen, living room with a dining table and sofa, and a bedroom.
The apartments have 1 bedroom and come with a sofa bed for an additional 3rd person if needed.

Weet je al precies met wie jij dit fantastische camp wilt beachen? Wellicht is de nieuwe groepsinschrijving dan wat voor jullie.
Schrijf je in als groep van 8 beachers en betaal een vast bedrag van 2.750,- voor een camppass voor 8 personen (343,75 p.p.)
Hiervoor krijg je alle voordelen van het normale camppass met de meest voordelige prijs en de hele week jouw eigen trainingsgroep!

Travel Tips
When you book with us, we take care of everything related to beach volleyball. But of course, you still need to get to our location! Below, you’ll find our tips and options for traveling to Praia da Rocha.
Train/Bus/Car
Coming from the Lisbon area you can take the Flixbus to Portimão. A ticket costs about 10 euros, and the bus is fast and reliable. Make sure to book in advance as the prices are better and they can sell out.
If you own/rent a car it is about a 3 hour journey to Praia da Rocha, parking is mostly free in Praia da Rocha so no need to worry about that. Especially if you are able to carpool with other Sunsetters this is probably the easiest/cheapest way to get to Praia da Rocha.
You can also go by public transport through train/bus, this however takes about 4/5 hours and is 20/30 euros for a one-way ticket.
